Five Move the Needle Forward for Hall, Kistler

“It’s been a busy six months at Hall, Kistler Company. As we come off our 75-year celebration, we continue to grow and keep our commitment to the community”. –Managing Partner, Karen Brenneman, CPA, MT.

 Karen Brenneman, CPA, MT, was recently recognized as one of the prestigious 30 Faces of Leadership.  To mark the occasion of Leadership Stark County’s 30th year, thirty graduates of the Leadership program were selected to represent the “difference makers” in the community. The selected 30 contributed as “motivated leaders with a lifelong commitment to community trusteeship” and contributed to the areas of community impact, volunteerism and leadership roles among other criteria.
Actively involved in the community, Brenneman sits on the City of Canton’s Steering Committee and serves as treasurer and chair of the Central Stark County YMCA finance committee. She is a trustee on the Stark Development Board and a founding member of Women’s Impact Inc., where she serves on the executive board and is treasurer. Brenneman is past chair of the board of the Canton Regional Chamber Commerce and past president of Canton Rotary. She is also a member of the 15th Class of Leadership Stark County.
 
Supervisor Seth Turner, CVA, was recently presented with the Canton Regional Chambers Ystark! Twenty Under 40! Award. Over his career at HK as an accountant, Turner earned the designation of Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA). Turner has also made a concerted effort to get to know the Canton community. He became very involved in the Canton Chambers Ystark! Program holding various positions until becoming the Chairman in 2016. He also is a member of the United Way Young Leaders Society and has volunteered on various committees within that organization.
 
Supervisor, Sandra Orcutt has earned the Enrolled Agent (EA) designation. As an Enrolled Agent (EA), Orcutt can advise, represent, and prepare tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, estates, trusts, and any entities with tax-reporting requirements and are the only federally licensed tax practitioners who specialize in taxation and also have unlimited rights to represent taxpayers before the IRS. 
Orcutt’s  practice area includes 1040’s and estates as well as preparation of tax returns, audits, reviews and compilations. 
 
Senior Accountant, Alex Ferrara has received his Interdisciplinary Master of Business Administration from the University of Akron with a concentration in tax and accounting. While working at HK and studying for his MBA, Alex volunteered for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program and was the recipient of the OSCPA Foundation Scholarship for graduate studies.
 
Tax Intern Jeffrey Skakun has joined the HK team as a staff accountant. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Walsh University and is licensed in Property and Casualty Insurance.
